Shyness: a big challenge to overcome

Ah! the blessed shyness, braking, holding my movements, which kept me away from my almost playmates. Shyness or fear? Well, later, as an adult, I realized that shyness and fear are very close sensations that prevent us from growing, winning, being happy, both personally and professionally.

However, there is nothing in this life, stronger than these feelings, when we understand that being happy depends a lot on our desire to overcome obstacles, prove to ourselves how much we can achieve.

Now I’m going to share with you some tips on how to win this great “enemy“:

1st) Perhaps the most important of all: be faithful to yourself and accept your shyness, to live with it, because, only when we know the “enemy”, we can overcome it and, from there, the cure for evil will come!

2nd) Instead of hiding behind excuses and evasions, go ahead and start accepting invitations to participate in activities outside the family and professional environment. For example, taking care of your body and becoming healthier, attending a gym, where everyone has a common concern: to live more and better. And, believe me, you will meet a lot of nice people and create a new circle of friendship.

3rd) Make your brain work for you and you will see that this wise friend, well trained, will be a propellant to face any situation;

4th) Posture is equally important in this process, spine erect and head up, head down, no way. Look at the world head on, and HE will give you self-confidence.

5) Thinking positive, leads to optimism and, this makes us see life and the people around us with joy. The result is very simple: give the world the best of yourself and that best will return to you;

6th) Relax and let go of anxiety. Take a deep breath, and go ahead. Relaxation will leave you free, light and loose;

7) If absolutely necessary, seek help from a specialist, but in my view, if you believe and intend to overcome any obstacle, you will have the determination to sweep away the shyness.

And, many years later, here is the proof of how it is possible to overcome shyness. Remember that girl with long blond braids from the beginning of this story? Here I am, a trained lawyer, with a passion for the profession, sitting in an audience room, surrounded by other people, making an oral statement, as granted by the most excellent Mr. Judge, with all the solemnity of our office. Shyness? He left, and it was late.
