Solidarity making a difference in Petrópolis

Solidarity is synonymous with reaching out to the other, welcoming, feeling the joys (yes, the joys too), because we don't have to wait for a moment of sadness, of suffering, to be in solidarity. It means transmitting a message of positivity to our fellow man, giving others the certainty that we are available. And, even if we don't have the power to overcome all obstacles, we will be there to hold that person's hands and say: whatever the problem, you can count on me.

It can be outstretched hands, a smile, an encouraging example that other people have gone through the same situation, but thanks to the help of the other, managed to overcome difficulties, making life better.

Well, the word in the title is known all over the world, but is it really part of most people's universe?

Many will say that we can't always help, but what we can't do is be indifferent, ignore the needs of the other, whether financial, affective, family. We just have to put ourselves in the place of that person or those people and ask: what if it were me, I would feel stronger, if instead of alone, I had someone sharing this moment with me.

See, sometimes a simple handshake, a smile, can comfort the other.

We are seeing, now, with the tragedy that shook and still shakes, the city of Petrópolis, the almost miraculous power of solidarity. Volunteers, coming from different parts of the country, who are doing their best there, because only official help (firefighters, civil defense, military) would not be able to carry out so much work, support so many demands.

The affectionate look of gratitude to those who are receiving help is moving and proves that, without solidarity, it is impossible to continue, to take life forward, to start over. And it's not just material losses, but above all, the losses of loved ones, of similar ones, it would be impossible to bear without the foundation of solidarity.

Let's donate clothes, food, hygiene products, cleaning, diapers and even toys for children, but above all, let's be supportive, donating not only our time, but above all, donating affection, reception, love, lots of love, These feelings are synonymous with solidarity. And what would our world be without this wonderful feeling?

My name is Sonia Maria, I am from Rio, with great pride, lawyer, businesswoman. In my spare time I love reading good books, dancing, traveling, dating. And I am a very obstinate person, I know how to be patient, in fact, patience is essential so that we do not give up on our goals.
